Poland is located in the geographical centre of Europe. Its environment is extremely varied as there are no natural barriers which would separate Poland from the rest of the continent. Nature of Poland compiles the features characteristic of the whole Europe. Animal and plant species of Central Europe occur here, but there also are some species characteristic of the northern parts of the continent.

In the south of Poland, mainly in Lublin region, one may come across some representatives of south-east Europe. There are some species characteristic of the Atlantic coast (by the Baltic Sea) and for the Alps (in the Tatra Mountains). There are relatively fewer species representing nature of the Mediterranean.

Nature of Poland compiles the features characteristic of the whole Europe.
Poland is one of the main "junctions" where a number of bird migration routes meet. Our country is regularly visited by birds coming from the northernmost parts of the European continent, but also by some species from Siberia. Seldom do migrants from Asia reach Poland, and very rarely vagrants from North America.

Thus, the most characteristic value of Polish nature is that it is representative for the whole European continent. Anyone who ventures to get to know Polish nature, can easily become an expert on the nature of Europe.
