In "Treasures of Nature" section of Poland.pl website we present the most valuable natural treasures in our part of Europe included into the European Ecologic Natura 2000 Network. All information published on our website has been prepared by professional naturalists and is ordered in a way which differs from the traditional methods of describing natural phenomena often found in textbooks and popular studies.
The most valuable sites in our country are comprehensively described and enriched with photographs and multimedia files. Everyone who would like to visit any of the described sites can also find some advice on when to go and what to take on an excursion, as well as a map prepared specially for us by Environmental Information Centre UNEP/GRID-Warsaw.
An integral part of the project is the competition "Treasures of nature in our region based on the European Ecological Natura 2000 Network". This competition is to raise interest among young people on the fields of ecology and nature, with special emphasis on European Natura 2000 Network.
Students from primary schools, secondary schools and high schools working under the supervision of their teachers, are to create their own descriptions of chosen treasures of nature in their region and enrich them with photographs, movies or sound recordings. All works fulfilling formal requirements will be published on our website and the most interesting and professionally prepared presentations will be rewarded.
After the competition is over Treasures of Nature website will remain an educational and information service providing access to multimedia information about Polish Nature.
Project Treasures of Nature is cofinanced by The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management
