The Valley of Tysmienica River is important to preserve the biodiversity of European nature. Wet meadows with fragments of sedges, willow and alder shrubs are home to numerous populations of Curlews, Black-tailed Godwits, sandpipers, ducks, terns and rails. Ponds in Siemien located within the area are the breeding site for a few hundred specimens of Mute Swan. The area covers6262,6 ha and is closely tied with Tysmienica river, which has its sources in Rorozno Lake, in Leczynsko-Wlodawski Lake District. Swietokrzyskie (Holy Cross) Mountains are the oldest mountains in Poland and are the highest part of Kielecko – Sandomierska upland. The highest peaks reach 612 m asl, and are located in 15 km long Lysica mountain range.
