The axis of Ostoja Nidzianska is a strongly meandering natural Nida River. The river valley is enriched with numerous oxbow lakes and old river beds. Almost every year the river floods the extending areas, creating perfect living conditions for wading birds. Moreover, the area is characterized by numerous interesting rock formations, as well as hills covered by semi-natural dry grasslands with important orchid sites. Within Natura 2000 Network the area is a site of community importance. The site lies in the Ponidzie region in Małopolska. It comprises the natural Nida River valley and fragments of adjacent plateaus between towns of Kije and Nowy Korczyn. vThe landscape is highly varied. Vast complex of humid and wet meadows, marshes and old river beds is situated in the middle part of the river course.
