The picturesque area of the valley of the Nida river is an important refugium for numerous bird species. The river meanders in many places, flowing in few river-beds creating a unique structure called the inland delta. The most precious areas are protected within the borders of Nadnidzianski Landscape Park. The Valley of the Nida river is an area of great environmental importance. Nida is a typical lowland river, with the width varying from 6 to 60 meters. The section of the river between Motkowice and Skowronno is not so typical – the multiplied river-beds meander and create a structure called inland delta. Swietokrzyski National Park was established in 1950 over the area of 6,054 ha. Currently its area amounts to 7,626 ha, out of which 7,212 ha are covered by forests. There are 5 strict nature reserves in the Park.
