Central Roztocze is uniquely picturesque with ranges of steep hills of flat tops. River Wieprz, and a couple of other interesting streams e.g. Swierszcz and Szum, meanders across the area. Here you may see Polish koniks, descendents of the extinct tarpan - Eurasian wild horse inhabiting Europe in the past. Central Roztocze is a valuable site of community importance. Forest cover the majority of the area. The most valuable are Carpathian beechwoods covering the tops and slopes of the hills, and fir forest overgrowing the lower parts of the slopes and depressions between the hills. more »
