Malopolski Przelom Wisly
Malopolski Przelom Wisly encompasses fragment of the river between Jozefow and Kazimierz, including 36 km-wide natural riverbed. The whole area of the site takes up 6418,8 ha. Its most characteristic feature is the landscape. River banks are very steep, there are numerous picturesque meanders and islands of different size and height. The site is covered by different types of habitats. Large part, which is 1/3 of the whole area, is taken up by waters of river Vistula. Pastures, meadows, heath lands cover almost half of the area. Numerous islands have a different character: from low, sandy and open islets, to larger ones, higher and covered by vegetation and used for example as patures. The banks of the river and the flood terrace are covered by osier shrubs and willow-poplar forests, meadows and pastures. Fauna of the region is dominated by birds. Sandbanks are home to numerous pairs of Little Ringed Plovers and Ringed Plovers, a few pairs of Oystercatchers, which are rare inland, and a significant population of Little Terns. more »

Roztocze National Park lies in the central-east part of Poland, and encompasses the most naturally valuable parts of Central Roztocze. The Park was founded in 1974 over the area of 4,801 ha.
