The area of Hubale site is home to one of the largest Polish population of Spotted Souslik (Spermophilus suslicus). This species used to be numerous particularly in eastern Poland. Nowadays it has become rare, and is listed in Polish Red Data Book of Animals. Hubale is a site of community importance. The area is situated in the south-western part of the Zamosc Basin (part of the Lublin Upland), on the border with Roztocze. Roztocze National Park lies in the central-east part of Poland, and encompasses the most naturally valuable parts of Central Roztocze. The Park was founded in 1974 over the area of 4,801 ha.
