They are situated in dolnoslaskie voivodeship, on the area of Lesna commune, it encompasses the site of 0.5 square kilometers. Karkonosze National Park

The Karkonosze National Park was established in 1959 to include an area of 5,510 ha. Since 1992 the Karkonosze National Park has been included into the Bilateral Biosphere Reserve Karkonosze/Krkonoše (MaB) which covers over 60,000 ha.

The town of Zloty Stok was once famous for its goldmines. Now the abandoned pits and grooves are a mainstay of many bat species.
