The Rudawy Janowickie is a mountain range in Western Sudetes in Poland. This range lies next to the much higher Karkonosze mountains. It is quite small covering the area of 90 km2, yet it is very interesting in terms of landscape and geological formations. One of the scenic places in Rudawy Janowckie are so called coloured lakes - Purple, Blue and Emerald created in headings of closed mines.

The Karkonosze National Park was established in 1959 to include an area of 5,510 ha. Since 1992 the Karkonosze National Park has been included into the Bilateral Biosphere Reserve Karkonosze/Krkonoše (MaB) which covers over 60,000 ha.
