Torfowisko Sobowice is a unique ecosystem of calcareous fen. The site is one of the most important refuges of a rare and protected plant Ligularia sibirica and numerous butterfly species. Within Natura 2000 Network Torfowisko Sobowice is a site of community importance. The site is located a few kilometers west from Chelm, between Zawadowka, Marysin, Ludwinow and Sobowice. Polesie National Park lies in central Poland near its eastern border. It was established in 1990 on the basis of the existing peatbogs nature reserves: Durne Bagno, Jezioro Moszne, Jezioro Dlugie, Torfowisko Orlowskie.
