Torfowiska Chelmskie is a unique complex of three calcareous fens. They were formed as a result of accumulation of organic and mineral material in depressions of surface karst origin, so-called "werteby". The fens are fed exclusively by rainfall and run-off from the surrounding hills. The site is a refuge for numerous plant and animal species - exclusively birds including Short-eared Owl and Great Snipe. more »
