The greatest value of Bagno Bubnow is the Aquatic Warbler - a small bird in Old World warblers family. This small passerine bird is a species found in wet sedge beds with vegetation shorter than 30cm. Drainage has meant that this species has declined, and its stronghold is now the Polesie region in Belarus, where 60% of the world's population breeds. Poland boast the second biggest population of this bird. It breeds in the valley of Biebrza river, Narew river in the region of Lublin - Bagno Bubnow and Chelmskie Torfowiska Weglanowe, and in Western Pomerania. more »

Polesie National Park lies in central Poland near its eastern border. It was established in 1990 on the basis of the existing peatbogs nature reserves: Durne Bagno, Jezioro Moszne, Jezioro Dlugie, Torfowisko Orlowskie.
