The Pasleka River

Pojezierza Wschodniobaltyckie
Rzeka Pasleka
211 kilometers of turns, sometimes a lazy river flowing through fields, then as dynamic as a mountain stream – such is the Pasleka river. The landscape of a river valley and its direct surroundings is extremely diverse. Waters of the river are an important refugium for many animal species. Particularly valuable among them is the European beaver. The Pasleka river is under protection within Natura 2000 European Network as site of community importance of area of 6233.4 ha.
In terms of landscape the Pasleka is "a model" river, since it is characterized by great diversity. Starting from gorge parts, where water flows swiftly in deep ravines overcoming fallen trees, through winding, inaccessible forest parts, meanders in fields, passages through lakes, to peatlands and floodplains in the lower course of the river. The Pasleka river is home for numerous endangered species of plants and animals. more »
