The Valley of Pasleka River is the site of special protection. Pasleka is second largest river of Mazury region and it is 211 km long. The landscape of the valley is very diversified – from the mountain river, to lazy waters flowing in a wide riverbed. At least 44 bird species from the I annex to the Bird Directive have been recorded in the area. Pasleka up to Braniewo is a natural, unregulated river. Fragments of natural river valley are well preserved in this region. In the upper part (from Gryzliny to Mostkowo villages), the Pasleka crosses woodlands and flows through 5 lakes. Along this fragment, the river valley is narrow and cuts in surroundings plains; along some fragments the river has a mountain character. Below Mostkowo, to Pityny village it runs through deforested areas - barren land, pastures and mowed meadows managed extensively, and arable land. From the bridge in Pityny, the river runs in a deep narrow valley of afforested slopes, further the flat bottom of the valley widens to 1000 m.
