Jezioro Pszczewskie and Dolina Obry
Pszczew is a beautifully located little town. You can see the lake on one side and meadows on the other from a market square. The Obra river flows nearby and surface of lakes glimmer in a distance. The whole area belongs to the most beautiful and the most interesting in terms of nature areas of a west part of the Wielkopolska Lowland. The terrain, formed by a continental glacier, abounds in gentle hills - moraines and lakes with steep banks laid in parallel - is the Pszczew Lakes zone. The area is a Site Of Community Importance within Natura 2000 network. Landscape of the area is made of two different kinds of the land's lay. South part, where the Obra river flows, is dominated by plain-rugged landscpe. North part reveals more dynamic, diverse landscape with postglacial troughs and beautiful forests. A very rich ecosystem of the area consists of huge number of species of fauna and flora - often protected or even being in danger of extinction. There are well preserved habitats of different kind - from old river beds, through marshy and meadow lands, to forests rich in species. Avifauna of the area consists of about 200 species of nesting birds. The flora is equally rich. Forests occupy about 60% of the area. more »
