Dolina Grabowej is a Site of Community Importance. The area is extremely picturesque with a diverse lay of the land. Particularly valuable, in terms of natural values, are seepage spring areas. Altogether there are 16 types of habitats specified in 1 Appendix of the Habitats Directive. It is also an important ecological corridor. The river valley cuts moraine elevations of Wysoczyzna Polanowska. Southern part of the refuge is a vast seepage spring area with little lakes and mid-field water holes. The river, together with surrounding terrains, is an extremely complex ecosystem. It is dominated by forest habitats: mixed forests cover 38% of the area and deciduous forests - 25 %. The most convenient access to the refuge is by the road no. 207 Slawno-Polanow which partly crosses the area of the refuge and then runs along its west border. more »
