English name Central European lichen scots pine forest
Pojezierza Poludniowobaltyckie
Bor Chrobotkowy
Imagine a forest of short twisted pines bending over clusters of greyish carpet of lichens, so dry that every step makes a crunch of breaking small branches. No mosses, no low shrubs - just dead forest. However, after rain forest slightly comes back to life. It is dry like before, only the carpet under our feet is soft. Such image of forest is typical of Central European lichen Scots pine forests with richly developed mossy-lichen layer. Bor Chrobotkowy site in Pomerania region is a site of community importance within Natura 2000 European Network. more »
