Forests, meadows, pastures and arable lands of Warminskie Bociany refuge are home for 2% of the country population of white stork. It is a species valuable for protection of biodiversity in Europe. Among all European countries Poland has the highest number of hatching white storks. Warminskie Bociany refuge is located in Warmia, in a southern part of Nizina Staropruska (the Old-Prussian Plain).
