Ostoja Goleniowska encompasses mostly economic forests, however transformed by forestry business only to a small extent. Types of forest which grow here correspond with local soils and habitat conditions. Our special attention deserves developing population of yew - a species which has been almost completely thinned out. Few remaining stands are usually taken under legal protection. Here we can observe a natural recovery of the species. The refuge is located on Pobrzeze Szczecinskie (Szczecin Shoreland) within Rownina Goleniowska (Goleniow Plain). Area of the refuge is cut by a national road no. 3, which connects Goleniow and Swinoujscie cities as well as road no. 6: Goleniow-Koszalin. Goleniow can be also reached by coach or by train. more »

Hel Marine Station was established in 1992. Its biggest attraction is the aquarium for seals, where gray seals, the biggest seals living in the Baltic Sea, may be seen all year round.
