The refuge lies in West-Pomeranian voivodship in the county of Kamien near the town of Wolin. Most of the area is used as an industrial reed plantation. However it is also a nesting place of many precious bird species, including aquatic warbler - species in danger of extinction worldwide. The area is eagerly visited by the naturalists.
