How to get to Kampinos Primeval Forest?
Puszcza Kampinoska - the map
The Kampinos Primeval Forest is located in the vicinity of a big city and is a popular place of relaxation for denizens of Warsaw and its surroundings. The easiest way to get to the Kampinos forest is to travel to Warsaw and then to one of the small towns located near the border of the Kampinos National Park: Lomianki, Legionowo, Truskawie, Izabelin.

If you don’t have a car, you can take a bus from Warsaw to:

  • Lomianki – line 701;
  • Legionowo – line 723 and 801;
  • Truskawie – line 708 and 714;
  • Izabelin – line 708 and 726.

You can also take a train from Warsaw to Legionowo.

The Kampinos forest has a well organized infrastructure for tourism. There are many foot-, cycling-, ski- and horse trails in the forest itself. As well as many car parks with restaurants and places where children can safely play on the edges of the park.

While visiting this region it is good to visit the museum of the Kampinos primeval forest,  which is located in the south-western part of the forest, in the town Granica. The exhibitions show the ecosystems, relief, fauna and flora of the forest. There are also parts of the exhibitions devoted to the historical events which took place within the borders of the forest. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9 to 16.

Another highlight of this region is the opportunity to take a ride on a narrow-gauge railway. The first station is located in Sochaczew in the Museum of the narrow-gauge railway. The route is 18 km long and leads to Wilcze Tulowskie. There you can hire a guide and take a hike in the Kampinos forest.
