Location
The site is part of the Warsaw region in the Warsaw Valley. The whole area is in the mazowieckiego voivodeship, near Pomiechowek commune.
Ecosystem
The site includes 1 km of the Wkra River with adjacent forests. The natural piece of Polish nature is preserved here with exceptional landscape values. The area is also a place where two European valuable habitats exist:
The right riverbank is steep and overgrown by dry ground forest while on the flat one the riparian forests dominate. There are fen and black soils in the area. The only older tree stand is located in ice-marginal valley of a small stream debouching in the Wkra River. There are also 65-85 years old ash-alder stands, with admixture of stem elm and spruce.
Flora and fauna
Different kind of vegetation exist in oak hornbeam forest, for example: Field Maple, Umbelliferae, Goldilocks Buttercup, Scotch Mist. In subcontinental broadleaved forest you may find: Schultes' Bedstraw, Celastraceae, Lady's Bedstraw. In riparian forests the dominating trees are White Willow and Crack Willow. Forest herb layer is covered mostly by Nettle, Garden Loosestife, Great Yellow Cress.
The area is also habitat for otters and beavers two endangered species under special protection.
Threats and protection
Main threats for the natural values of the site are posed by littering up the site and destruction of forest herb layer.
