Dolina Lachy
Area description
Dolina Lachy is a Site of Community Importance with a surface of 910.7 ha, which encompasses a 10-kilometer-long part of Lacha river valley (left-bank tributary of Barycz river). It is located in dolnoslaskie voivodeship.

Lowland meadows and pastures take over a half of the area. The rest are woods with many parts of natural character.

Habitats from Appendix I of Habitat Directive:

  • Bog woodland,
  • Galio-Carpinetum oak-hornbeam forests,
  • Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior (Alno-Padion, Alnion incanae, Salicion albae),
  • Semi-natural dry grasslands and scrubland facies on calcareous substrates (Festuco Brometalia)(important orchid sites),
  • Water courses of plain to montane levels with the Ranunculion fluitantis and Callitricho-Batrachion vegetation,
  • Lowland hay meadows (Alopecurus pratensis, Sanguisorba officinalis),
  • Inland dunes with open Corynephorus and Agrostis grasslands,
  • Molinia meadows on calcareous, peaty or clavey-silt-laden soils (Molinion caeruleae).

On wet habitats there are many species of amphibians from Appendix II Habitat Directive, and the world of insects is represented by a big population of Cerambyx longicorn (Cerambyx cerdo).

On the area of Dolina Lachy the are some social OTOP reserves: Bielawka, Colin, Dluga, Kumaki, Polder, pro Natura, Ruskie Laki. There are two Landscape Parks near Dolina Lachy: of Barycz valley and of Jezierzyca valley, where many trails were determined for bicycle tourism and hikes.
