Tatry are the highest mountain range in the Western Carpathians. The ridge from Przelecz Hucianska (the Hucianska Pass, about 900 m. a.s.l.) to Przelecz Zdziarska (the Zdziar Pass, 1075 m. a.s.l.), is 80 km long. Tatry are protected within the Tatra National Park, as well as a World Biosphere Reserve. Moreover, these unique Alpine type mountains in Poland are a Site of Community Importance and a Special Protection Area within Natura 2000 European Network. Pieniny National Park is one of most picturesque national parks in Poland. The Park's area is 2,346 ha. Forests cover 1,665 ha - 750 ha are placed under a strict protection.
Tatra National Park contains about 650 caves. Wielka Sniezna - Wielka Litworowa cave is the longest, with 18,000 m of tunnels and the deepest (814 m in depth). Only 6 caves are accessible for visitors.
