Pieniny mountain range is located in southern Poland and northern Slovakia. It is the highest part of a long belt of limestone rocks. Pieniny mountains stretch along 30 km east off the Bialka's gorge. They are famous for spectacular rock formations, landscape attractions and rich plant cover. Pieniny Wlasciwe (the Central Pieniny), situated between Czorsztyn and Szczawnica, constitute a site of community importance within Natura 2000 European Network. Pieniny National Park is one of most picturesque national parks in Poland. The Park's area is 2,346 ha. Forests cover 1,665 ha - 750 ha are placed under a strict protection.
Dunajec river is 251 km long, and flowing northeast into the Vistula River. Its inflows such as: Biely (White) and Èierny (Black) Dunajec, Biela voda (White Water) as well as Javorinka are all fed from the Pieniny Mountains.
