The European ground squirrel (Spermophilus citellus) is also known as the European Souslik. It grows to a length of approximately 20 cm and a weight of between 200 and 400 g. In Poland the European ground squirrel became extinct in 1970s and 1980s, however its population is being successfully reintroduced. more »
