The Royal fern is a plant of soppy terrains and is very sensitive to water deficiencies. It grows in swampy forests and on marshes and peat-bogs. It is an endangered species because its natural habitats are dwindling as a result of melioration and drying of the land. Its assemblies are spread all over Poland. You can find this fern on Wolin and Uznam islands, in the vicinity of Lodz and Kalisz and also in Niepolomicki Primeval Forest and in Sandomierska valley.
